2017 Mitsubishi triton. Info. The good, bad, ugly

Hi guys would anyone have experience with the newer 2015-17 triton? I've been looking at a new one glxr 4x4 manual and off the spec sheet has more power and tori then a hilux but a price tag of only $36995. + orc. The idea of the power train warranty is good but real world experience of this vehicle would be great. Besides the wellside looking ugly is it cheap for a reason?

A younger friend of mine had one and thrash the a$$ of it. Just dumb shit you do when you are young and own a $1000 dollar bomb not a new vehicle and he had no issues with it . It had done 50000km when he rite it off before getting a new one

they sorted the gearbox out in the newer models, they used to hve 3rd gear issues. we have a 2010 model, it goes well now that i have modified it to turn off the egr valve. (bloody easy to do)

My cousin was towing a trainer up a slippery slope with 4x4 on, started to slip and traction control intervened, long story short he jack knifed and slid down the hill. Minimal damage but why cant we just buy a simply ute anymore. All these electronics trying to cater to the dickheads in cities driving them on the freeways

Positive note another mate picked one up the other day in 4x4 for 34K new. Not bad I thought.

auto electronics (especially european) are getting worse, allot of manufacturers are using lead free solder and its brittle as hell. with constant vibration it disintegrates, on a good note it pays well resolder it all

I have a 2017, have done nearly 15,000km in it now. Good as gold, tows the boat, carry's deer enough said.

In all seriousness apart from chucking on some better tires for 4WD theres nothing else I have done but drive it. Goes like a cut cat.

I know a couple of jokers with them, and really rate them. Bear in mind if buying one that the 10 yr warranty is only for the original owner, not transferable. @gonetropo interested in your mod. Mines a 3.2 2008 model. Was going to put in a catch can, a lot of the Aussie owners are doing that. Some were just blocking off the EGR, but getting fault codes coming up. The catch can solved that.

Other than being ugly, I have heard more good things than bad. Simple electrical issues was about the worst commons issues I've heard, and that was from a mate who's had his 2010 from new, and treats it like crap off road all the time, so electrical components are always getting wet or caked in mud.

Lets face it, if its not cool, its only part of the job done
