    Buggered SD card for GPS

Hopefully some smart bugger can point me in the right direction.

Noticed today my GPS in my Hilux wasn't working but audio and everything else was fine.
Tried to go to navigation settings but they wouldn't open.

Thought maybe she needed updating so removed the SD card put it in my puter and opened it. All good.

Went to update it thru Garmin and it could not find the card.
Had another look by opening the file but would not open as it is now corrupt.

I am not the most computer savy fella out there so I am stumped.
I have since formatted the card which of course has wiped it and I cannot recover what was on it.

Any tech savvy people out there can help me out?

I would have just bought a new card but @ 300 bucks I thought I would try here first.

I have recovery software that could probably recover the data, even though you formatted the card.

Just to jump in here while Iv got your attention (sorry for the hijack R93)

Wife got me a 64gb sd card presumably from china(online somewhere took 10-20 days or so to arrive) for my phone as it was getting full but the bloody thing only saves mayby 1 in 20 photos? some thumbnails appear but when I click them they are not there....most annoying after a trip away.

Make sure the card is formatted (preferably in the phone) and the camera is set to save to the card.

    @R93

    What model is the GPS?

Whoops just saw you said it was Garmin.

Garmin NZ could help you out.

Tried that. No go. Even tried to load a free map but that won't work either.

Most likely if it is on a memory card or the device acts like a drive as long as it hasn't been written to too much. Have done it with MP3 players and cameras before. Depends a bit on how the device stores stuff.

Have heard of this before, cheap cards and use sticks from aliexpress that show they are a certain size but aren't and keep overwriting what was on the discard to start, you end up with he most recent few items and all the old stuffs gone
