If you do get an Isuzu bighorn @Pengy add a litre of moreys oil stabiliser each oil change and use fuchs titan ultralube 15w-40 the engine in mine is nice and quiet with that brew that same oil is used in all of the machinery where I work minus the moreys additive. oh and be warned the oil filter is a bitch to get in and out due to drive shaft, torsion bars and exhaust all being in the way.

Hunted for years, used to run a Izuzu bighorn for years inthe bush with no difficulty, including a lot of 4x4 work the last x7km into our hut.
Now have run a Ford Courier 2.4ltr diesel ute. I've got to say this machine amazes me, it'll run well on little diesel, keeps good pulling power. Good off road and easy to work on.
I carry a quad bike and all gear for x2 blokes for x7hrs each trip and over three years have had no issues.
Only problem is the window washer bottle, which is far to small for the job.
I've towed guys out in some pretty fancy 4x4's but won't mention the makes here.

I have just been offered a SsangYong Korando at a very good price, but don't know anything about the make apart from what mr Google tells me.
It is 2005 and immaculate with very low km.
Anyone have personal knowledge on these little Korean wagons

You cannot go past a 3 litre HiLux diesel manual. I prefer the Surf, but the double cabs are as good only they cost more. Something in the late 1990's with no more than 220-230,000 K's will last you for years. If you are serious about your hunting then a snorkel is a wise addition. Change your oils and filters at the proper intervals (including diffs if you are in water) and it will go into the 400,000 + range without problems (subject to sensible driving - going airborne over bumps, seeing how much mud it will handle, high speed river crossings, etc is just plain stupidity!).
