G'day guys. Looks like I'm going to be doing a dash down to TeAnau and back. Never had to worry about chains on the ute before, but is it better to be fitting them front or back wheels. Only a requirement to carry, but is one end better than other for ice or snow. Cheers

If it's a newish ute make sure you have clearance on front
Carry a few heavy duty cabje ties. Use them to tie off any loose chain end so it's not flopping around. Drive a 100m then recheck and possibly retighten the chains after fitting them
Depends on he snow deep powdery stuff where you need traction going uphill, put them on the back. Usually I put them on the front as I like to b able to point the truck where I want to go, if the back end slides out.... :thumbsup:
I use bungees to keep tension on the chain. I also do the drive 100 metres and re-tighten.

I don't know if there's restrictions or not. It's just I might have to shoot down and back to pickup someone. I just want all options left open to get there and back. Normally I'd wait til it's clear, may not have the time to waitQuote:

Bungees are a must - agreed. Cable ties simply help tie off the chain ends and minimise risk of a thrown/lost chain
