I believe that was only a few unlucky engines either that or Dad and another guy I know were extremely lucky and got the only 2 that dont burn oil but I doubt it.

But are these new ones or 2015/16 models?
There seems to be nothing about it after 15/16 mentioned anywhere I can find

I have one of the new models an LTZ, just over a year old.
Goes extremely well especially when you think that its only a 2.8 litre four cylinder. Heaviest Ive towed is a 2.7 tonne digger + trailer so roughly three tonnes up some very steep hills. No problem I was happily surprised. I'm told it is alot more comfortable than the Ford but I havnt driven one. No oil issues like the old model so far, My father inlaw had the last model with the bung motor, he now has a Z71 which he says is far superior to the old model. All the beeping drives me a bit batty, I wish the bitch would mind her own business.
Excellent backing camera and parking sensors. They have had three goes at getting a rattle out of the dash with no luck. When its due for a service, actually before its due, you guessed it ding bloody dong all the time. Mine is the charcoalish colour and the paint seems to chip abit too easily for my liking. I think you can out drive the chassis, which isnt a negative as it must be hard to set things up to tow three tonnes and still be able to carry one tonne with any kind of comfort.
All in all an excellent vehicle for the time Ive had it but time will tell once they have a couple of hundred k under them.

Our late 2016 LTZ don't burn oil. Have a good mate with a Z71 and it tows his 3.5 ton boat (8.5m White Pointer) real well between here and Okiwi Bay. I would buy another in a second.
That said much prefer taking my Pajero up to visit Mr Pengy over the Colorado
Funny thing was I was reading this apparently they know better than their customers, its a Toyota don't ya know

Yip bought a Z71 back in July after owning a Navara for 5 years.
Really impressed with the vehicle both on road and off. Sure the bells and whistles are a bit ott, but its a far better built vehicle than the Navara, more comfortable, better ground clearance, and a lot smoother in the engine. So far so good

I got a new one had a 15 that was chewing oil

Done almost 4000k with a few long trips.

Its a far better ute then the old one. Tech is up there if sometimes anoying.
    Ride is great
Cabin noise is a huge improvement over my old one.

Im happy as and would recommend

I have had Toyota hilux 4x4 utes for over 30 years but after comparing various utes at the start of the year i went for a 2018 holden colorado.
Have been very pleased with its performance overall and would recommend it to other purchasers. No oil issues with this model that im aware of.
I put an extra leaf spring in the rear and replaced the front suspension to be more suitable for the type of use it will get.
Save our Tahr. They belong in the southern alps.
