    Custom Barwork - Taranaki

    Hi all,

Any Taranaki residents here who have had custom bullbars or rear bars etc built by local fabricators? Interested in any experiences good or bad.

I'm trying to toughen up the front end and improve ground clearance on my 20 year old Merc ML270, and there's nothing available aftermarket from the usual suppliers given its a bit of a niche vehicle.

    Hi Cheeki
Are Airbags going to complicate the front Bar ?
All the overseas examples I've seen photos of seem to ignore them. I don't think that would work for WOF locally.

Was thinking about that too, had a quiet google and didn't actually find anything much at all.

Any competant engineer can make the bars - I would use aluminium , but whether they will fit them tot he vehicle or nor would be the question.

Ali Arc in Wangavegas make all sorts of bullbars and vehicle bars - I would go direct to them
Be more involved and less impressed.

I think pre-2003 airbags don't come into it so much and a front bar just has to be "friendly" and not likely to catch people on it.

I'll have a yarn with Ali-Arc and see what they can do - didn't realise they were that close.
