Drying out a vehicle

So time for an incomplete confession.

If you have had water come in through the (open) doors and filled the floor plan what do you have to do to dry it out - it's a 2003 Zuk.

I would make a full report in "the transport having an oops moment" but fortunately accompanying Grandson didn't have a camera and thems (son) who rescued us didn't have the presence of mind to record it either - in pissing rain it has to be said. As far as I know posts to the Oops thread require a photo and far be it for me to break the rules - haha

All I will say is it's foolish to follow ruts probably made using 33s through a big pond when you only have 28s on . . .

Pull the rubber drain bungs out in the floor wells if it has some and either take the carpet/lyno out to dry or lift it up.
Keep the door/windows open for a while

do you have access to a dehumidifier?

Lay folded towels on the floor and change them every couple of hours, then run a dehumidifier inside it overnight.

They’re normally pretty easy to dry out, the towels draw the moisture out of the carpet and underlay.

Im gonna try scrounge one . . .

It was a bit of a "lost a £1note but found a sixpence" - the rego sticked thats been missing for months came floating out from somewhere and presented itself . . .

Yea my suzuki got flooded in the storms we had a few years back. Like brads said pull the bungs and lift the carpet if you can, then I left mine with the de humidifier going in it. It took over a week to dry it out. Where I drove there was a fireman standing on the edge of where the road was nearly up to his chest in water waving us through. I was following a landcruiser but the suzuki isnt quite as high

get it as dry as otherwise youll get to play wtf is going with the electrics

bungs out, towels etc. dehumidifier if you have one. failing that lots of damp rid buckets. baking soda works well too

You need to find someone with one of these
A builder or carpet layer would have one

I have one but it's a bit far away from you

Just blow the hell out of it with one of these and it will dry pretty well.
We use them to dry out Storm flooded houses etc

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. However morning report at Gorge Rd school on Monday might be interesting! I tried the "we will never speak of this day again" line on him (Mr 10 year old) but he's too fly for that . . ..

I sunk my Kubota in a Westcoast paddock 2 months ago during a supposed drought
I had a very long walk to get my truck and go back and tow it out.
All the time an unnamed forum member was left sitting there waiting and having a bloody good laugh.
But there are no photos so that didn't happen either

Have a good nose around at anything electrical that isn't sealed and is below the physical water line, take note and keep it as a list based thing. Lights in the doors, seat belt tensioners and anything else underneath or in the engine bay etcetera. Once you've got it stripped and drying run the list past an auto sparky, they'll tell you if you have an issue pending.
