I'm generally anti any new law as any new law only ever removes freedoms and costs more.

Perhaps rental companies should be banned from offering incentives to return the self contained camper with a clean unused toilet?

And if passed into law you could face a 1000 dollar fine for chucking a mattress in the back of your ute/station wagon/van/what have you and sleeping the night at a road end or whatever.

Err, yes it is Kiwis shitting all over the place (AS WELL I should say). There's precious few tourists here right now, and everywhere I go, there's the evidence. FFS! does no one carry a fuckin spade in their car! Was exploring the southern Pureoras last weekend. Gotta all be Kiwi hunters and 4WDers in there at the mo, crap everywhere you could erect a tent. Energy drinks, RTD's, beer bottles,chewy bar wrappers. Grubby bastards the lot of em. Gotta be missing a chromosome or something??

Never thought the notion would pass my mind. I think old Noshie is doing a fine job with tourism and camper vans presently. Some one has to do something, even if it halves the disgusting mess it all leaves behind it.

A bit like guns, the problem is with the people not the vehicle. If they don't give a shit to the point that they're leaving their shit all over the place, a self-contained van isn't going to help. They will either not use the septic tank or dump the contents on the roadside.

Some don’t use the dunny in the rented camper van because they then have to pay extra to the rental company.

You are missing the point I made about tourists hiring fully self contained and shitting on the side of the road.
It will do nothing to change that but will ad cost and compliance to kiwis.

well i was once two cars behind a self contained campervan when a disposable nappy few out the window.
