You are getting straight diesel via Allied, the stuff at BP/Mobil/Z/Caltex has the additive (usually a connoction sourced from outfits like BASF in Germany that has a mix of MEK and other nasty shite in it) and the additives help with a few things like lubricity, detonation, spray patterns etc.
I personally usually stick with the Gull diesel (rolling average on the Gull is reported as 8.7L/100Km by the on board bean counter), which is purely imported from Singapore (no local manufacturing system with Gull, it's all imported). The imported stuff is generally (or was) at a higher quality level than the local stuff, although stand by for this to change with the move away from local refining.
