Does anyone know how hard it is to get a landing permit for a private helicopter in the Kaimanawas? I realise you can only land at designated sites just wondering how hard it is to get a permit for a private chopper to land at a designated landing site. Or how much trouble you would be in without a permit? No I don’t have a helicopter but I do have a friend.

That happens you dont pay but when you book a trip the chopper company uses the doc website to book it stops double dumping.Quote:

You need a concession from doc to land a heli in there regardless of if you are a commercial operator or a private operator, its a lot of paperwork but is all on the doc website.
Helps if you know someone from doc that can expedite the application and vouch for you.
I'm pretty sure the only exception is fixed wing to Boyd, as there are flying clubs whose members have the right to use the airstrip without a permit etc..
DOC required a permit for private landing at Boyd 30 years ago, can't see them changing.Quote:
