    Hilux wheel offset

Looking at purchasing some steel rims to put mid tyres on a hilux (KUN 2006-2011) can anyone recommend the correct offset to use? Seems like main options are 0 or -22
    Will be running 245-75-16 MTs

I'd just stick with 0, unless you want a wider stance for some reason

So more negative means more offset? Ie: -22 will stick out 22mm more than 0?
Thanks, don't want a bogan truck, just a all rounder that drives well on the road and can access hunting spots etc without too much trouble so think I will stick with the 0 offset

Have you got a dog box even though I don't have dogs, just so the pig can be up on display for all to see? Also I'm open to using some bald 33"s that have less traction than a set of factory sized AT's if there's any going?

-22 means the wheel hub is 22mm inside the centre line so yes it will push the rim outwards

Are you putting on 16" ? -22 is the stanard offset for that size. If you use 0 on a wide rim like 8" then you may not clear the mudflap etc on the inner guard on full lock.

Also having that 'wider stance' is good for a bit of extra bodywork protection in ruts etc as the tyres will take the hit and not the guards.

Yes 16" rims as anything 15" won't clear the brakes.

Check out Toyota Hilux 2006 - Wheel & Tire Sizes, PCD, Offset and Rims specs - Wheel-Size.com

    Factory standard looks to be:
    6JJx15 ET45 fitted with 205/70R15
    or 7JJx15 ET10 fitted with 255/70R15
    or 6JJx16 ET45 fitted with 205R16

Based on the above, and by measuring your current wheel to body work and suspension clearances you should be able to work out what a 0 or -22 offset will do.

If you go to 4WDbits Toyota Hilux VIGO 2005 to 2015 they have +30mm in 16" which I think you will find to be a better solution with less risk of tyre rub, unless you have a suspension lift.
I have just fitted 265x70x17" to my 2015 Hilux on +45mm factory TRD rims and they just rub on the bottom of the front bumper when turning.

If you are going from alloy to steel you will find the metal is thinner in the steels and will probably clear the brakes if the tolerance is that close anyway. You're welcome to try on my feet if you are in town.

15s off my courier have no chance of clearing the calipers GM. Now I'm real confused because we have gone from -22 to +45....
