Petrol or diesel?
If you don't fix your own vehicles you should probably start now. Not that I'm suggesting you will be doing it a lot, but most mechanics seem to be hopeless with any form of fault finding unless you take it to Land Rover themselves, but then it's expensive as buggery.
There are a heap of websites that you can order parts from the UK, save yourself a small fortune.
Find a few good Land Rover forums and you will find most issues as pretty easily fixed yourself.
Best thing about Land Rovers are there is a shit load of information out there on how to fix and maintain them yourselves, I've had a hell of a time trying to fix issues on a friends Toyota Caldina and another Toyota Altezza, as there is bugger all information about them.
If/when you start getting electrical faults, don't piss around taking it to an auto sparky, buy a Nanocom or Bearmach Hawkeye or similar and you will likely be able to fix/clear them yourself.

You're all hilarious. It's a diesel (BMW M57 I6), and naturally, all-terrain tyres will be my next major purchase. I'm fortunate enough to know a Land Rover owner mechanic through work, and as he helped advise on this purchase, I think it's only fair that anything going wrong gets dumped in his lap :P
I'm really loving it so far. Aside from the big Sprinters I drive at work, this is about the only vehicle I've driven where I don't feel at all crammed in, and certainly the only 4WD where I've felt as comfortable. My dad's Ford Territory comes close, but I've got a longer back than him, so I end up a little too close to the roof to see out of the windscreen optimally.

As a capable 4wd they work very well. They will go as far and get stuck as any other good 4wd.
If any of the clever electronics/mechanicals fail that will feck you up and be expensive. Its a good thing you have a landy mechanic mate as at least he will know the tricks and where to get cheap bits.
A mate had one, he really liked it and got a good run from it
Right up until it caught fire driving up a hill
