I dislike Tauranga in general and very rarely go there these days - it takes me less time to get to Hamilton from our place despite Hamilton being an additional 25 km. And Hamilton is 100% easier in all regards (e.g. no SH2).

But whatever the problems in the Tauranga CBD, this is simply down to people being stupid.

My mileage has been quite different this year because of work activities much closer to home and several related trips to places I don’t normally go (e.g. Auckland). But I don’t drive that much atm, certainly compared to previous years, i’ve only done 3000 km on my Hilux this year, hardly used it. But more and more I am seeing really stupid shit, and I have a great sense of foreboding. I know that sounds dramatic but honestly the amount of near misses through sheer fuckwittery that I’ve seen this year is seriously alarming. I do worry about road safety for my family especially now that we have two young teenage drivers.

this was just a minor incident in the greater scheme of things but completely avoidable in every respect. Just people being fuckwits. The insurance company has told me that all I needed was a plate number for that Nissan and there would’ve been a reasonable likelihood they would have not penalized me as the claimant. The dash cam footage would’ve been a no-brainer. But I didn’t even get the chance to ask for the number plate, old lady was so freaked out she just had a meltdown. Just a shit situation caused by shit behavior by shitty people.
outlander, Ned and XR500 like this.
