I was just about to suggest that - one thing TCC has done is parked cameras everywhere in the CBD. Colloquially known as 'hobocam' - pretty much there to record the poor bloody street sleepers is the joke.
But if you approach TCC or the Police they may be able to supply the footage as technically it is a 'hit and run' incident with a side order of 'road rage'...
I'm like you though, I've seen how the driving has deteriorated around here and literally every second trip out I'm either nearly getting wiped out or having to take some sort of evasive action because someone has done something wrong or just plain ignorant. I used to get pissy with the cops pulling over every second car on the semi-rural road I am on but I've actually had a bit of a rethink on my attitude to their work. It's likely going to potentially save me (or one of my family) from what the idiot that got pulled over was doing, and if they actually pick up on the learning it will likely save someone else. I had a lady drive out right in front of me at the SH29 roundabout a few days back, I was crossing the main highway straight through and she just didn't stop on the give way - looked me in the eye and drove right in front of me and looked all offended when I kept going. How rude of me as the right of way vehicle, I mean seriously couldn't I tell she was on important errands! FFS. I won't mention the clown that passed me in a stationary line of traffic on the left - or would have if he didn't have to do an emergency stop due to the traffic island in front of him. And sat there beside me looking daggers at me for not letting him in - I would have had to reverse to do that though. And it's only Tuesday (I never went out driving yesterday)!
