    Large sit-on-top kayak

I'm going to buy a kayak over the next few months, so it is all set up for summer. So doing my research now.

I want a double kayak, because:
-Load up both the kids for family fun
-And can carry pack, rifle and meat (I have a couple of spots where a kayak would save a shit of walking and in one case a ferry/dingy hire)

Also, I would be using this for fishing by myself so, ideally would be easy to paddle and control with just me in it.

Anyone got any thoughts on brand and model?

I'm a retired kayak fisherman, but still follow the sport quite closely. Have a look at the Predator PDL.

Personally I prefer a large Canadian canoe. Great on lakes and rivers. Slightly higher profile so can catch the wind in the open but rock solid to fish from

The secondary stability is awesome too. You've really really got to do something stupid to swamp in a Canadian.

If you are anywhere near Matamata go and see Viking Kayaks at the factory shop. Talk to Stephen. He will sort you with what you need, or the boat show in Auckland this weekend.

    No where near Matamata!

I like the look of the Viking 2+1, seems to fit the bill.

I'll will have a look at Canadian canoe.
