Is rear diff lock necessary?

This is what diff locks front and rear, duals on the rear end, chains on all six wheels, powered by a V8 6.5L GMC diesel bouncing off the rev limiter looks and sounds like.

Most of the time you don't need all the fruit. But when you do, its worth it:ORLY:

Not a fan of the nirvara. I had a 6 speed manual 2017 and I sold it ASAP. Terrible gearing for slow speed hill driving. The autos may be different.
Yep front and rear diff lockers are a game changer. Got stuck plenty without them and in spots you wouldn't expect to.

@rugerman Yep, run in 4H 100% of the time (super-select 2 system). Having come from a Prado which had this by default, running in 2H just felt really loose. 4H is a lot more sure footed, but apparently uses more fuel and tyres wear quicker. Still on the first set of tyres at 70,000km, and the fuel difference is negligible, so I think I'll be sticking with 4H.

i have a jacked up nisssan patrol, td42 throwing 280hp, before dif locks, id still get stuck every now and then, then i got front and rear e lockers, and as soon as i get stuck, flick the switch and theres no stopping me, helps that its also on 37s.

My Ranger has got it. I do a lot of mild off road and have never used it. I use the auto parallel parking button next to it more often. :) I guess that’s Ranger owners for you.

all depends on how you drive it, the whole rotating assembly has been balanced together, aaftermarket damper pulley, she should do all right, if she blows one me then ill part the motor and throw in a barra turbo

LS Would be better, easier, conversions are easy to obtain and way more reliable, if my 80 series ever quits on me LS will takes it's place.
Barras belong in brackish water in the NT :thumbsup:

Barras are more tasty than LSD.:thumbsup:

My ole silver top has been pushing 30psi with 220hp since 2012, it's sitting near on 380,000km and not showing signs of kicking the bucket anytime soon.
