Mrs has 96 2.7 petrol surf auto. Great wagon. Had it 4 years. Have never had the trans looked at. Should it be flushed or something?
Also doin more off the seal traveling, more hunting down here etc, thinkin bout snorkel... Who fits these?
Costs?
Has stock shocks. Is it good idea to upgrade them?

Plenty of things can be done.
There are a few snorkles that are available. Peter Munroe Commercials on Blenheim Rd does the ARB Safari snorkels. Pricey but probably the better of the plastic type.
There is a guy out North Canterbury that does awesom metal snorkles if you are keen (search Toms Offroad and Customs on facebook)
The A/T could do with a flush. Worth doing.
Suspension can sag quite bad in the back of the Surf's. There are lift kits available or if you don't want the lift you can just upgrade the std height suspension.
Many options depending on depth of pockets.

And with say a 50mm lift, that gives u an extra 50mm height off grnd? Is that usually what ppls go for?
Snorkel well worth it. I got 8% improvement on fuel economy straight off. Plus I don't cringe in water. Lift means handling can change, as in slow down those sharp turns! Shop around for shockies, you get what you pay for, but if vehicle is a keeper, well worth it. I assume you're looking at springs also????
I got iron man 50mm lift and snorkel for 3k. I think? Best thing i did was replacing the factory shocks. Not sure if i needed the snorkel coz with the lift you would be in some deep bloody water to need it. Id get some primo tyres first

50 mm makes no difference to handling no body roll at all.

50mm is nothing. Generally they settle down a bit after a while as well.
Last kit we fitted was around $1600 (from memory) just for the parts then a good days labour to fit it all.
Safari snorkels I think are around $600 + fitting.
There is a guy from Kelford Cams (Phil) that sells a bit of 4wd gear on Trade Me. Sells Gibson Airflow snorkels for $389.
And Mudstuck (also on trade me) sells cheap snorkles for $79-$249.

If you're installing a snorkel and getting it wet don't forget to install hosepipe on ur diff breathers and run the forward one to the top of ur engine bay and the rear into your tail lights.
