    Surtees 5.5 Workmate

    Anyone running one of these boats?
    Had a look at a new one today. Liked it a lot. Not sure about the guff I got on the e tec engine tho.
    I'm curious about the ballast function.
    Does it work like intended?

    Unfortunaltely, I have to say I was not a fan of the ones I have been in 5.5, 6.1 and bigger)
    Nor a fan of Etec's in General. Tuna boats have tried them on their speed boats and also 4 smokes, gone back to various yammies, bullet proof
    Personally I would not own anything but a yamaha, personal choice.

    With boats it what YOU like, not what I like.

    yamaha or honda outboard in saying that ive got a johnson

    i talked to the guy who fills my tanks in chch, he has a 5.5, he likes it but said its not as stable as he would of liked
    Dont waste your time chasing every last fps, it doesnt matter in the real world, it wont make a difference, all it will do is cause head aches and frustrations. And dont listen to silly old cunts

    been out in one as boatman a few times, wouldnt have one if i was paid to, cant sit on the side to prepare dive gear with out balancing people on board etc.
    it wasn't confidence inspiring at all even with the ballast tank open, I prefer a boat that I can get one or preferable two people on one side if i have to eg drag in dive gear or diver etc or netting a decent fish

    But in saying that opinions are like assholes, every one has one

    Cheers guys. Its the honest feedback I was after.
    The hull didn't look quite right to me.
    Don't know anything about the e tecs either. I was told they are superior to anything else. Meh.
    Yup, if a yammy can survive a years tuna fishing it will last 10 yrs putting around at my pace.

    the 2hp yammy and 3.3 merc are for sale
