Thread: Tail light cluster D-Max.

It seems that a faulty connection in the brake light triggers the stability control (2016 flat deck D-Max) and switches it off. Simple solution is to replace the cluster but am thinking about replacing both clusters with LED ones to give a brighter brake light and better reversing lights. Would this cause more issues or is it a straight forward job ? Any advice will be appreciated.

It depends if the computer is looking for a resistance from the taillight setup to tell it if there is a trailer connected which can adjust traction control and a few other things for "towing mode" for want of another name.

If you change to LED's which have low resistance compared to a standard bulb it can cause the same thing you have found with the wiring glitch, although you can work around it if this is the case.
