Thoughts on Canvas Canopy Well-Side Ute

    Hi all
Has anyone purchased a Tuff Tonneaus Canvas Canopy for a well-side ute and if so, what are your thoughts on the product considering their attractive pricing ($1,500 - $1,600).
I’m not interested in fibreglass or ABS canopies and have priced up good quality alloy canopies made locally or by well known NZ manufacturers (utemaster, utepro, Camco, Agri-crates, etc) which l start at 6k for most basic builds.

Understand alloy canopies are a step up in terms of quality and price but I am just wanting honest opinions on the Tuff Tonneaus Canvas Canopy sold out of Australia.

    Cheers all

These look interesting - basically a conventional tonneau on steroids? Biggest drawback would be security, they can't be effectively locked up.

But it definitely slows them the hell down, if you have a decent system. Some of the hard lids are complete shite for security as well, which a lot of people don't realise.

I prefer a fibreglass canopy over alloy fabricated, easier to make fully watertight and a lot cheaper once it's done. Don't get me wrong, there are issues with my Fleetline unit which has molded in drainage channels by each flap but I'd much rather have that system than an alloy unit as it's a lot closer shaped to the outline of the cab and a lot more fuel efficient as it doesn't stick out like a block outhouse. Also, any dink on the paint or coating and your alloy canopy turns white and fuzzy and the same around any hole or fitting - one big advantage with fiberglass. I don't have a requirement to fit anything on top of it though.

The canvas canopies is more a South African Bakkie thing, have a look to those guys for styling cues here. We don't tend to run them so much in NZ as they always end up leaking like a bloody sieve and often run into zip issues at a young age.
