Likewise when I worked in the states, as my hearings not the best and I never remember names I usually refer to everybody as "mate". A few people used to act a bit weird around me until I figured out they were thinking mate=sexual mate

On the bright side it never hurts to cast as many lines into the water as possible to try and get some bites
