After Swazi tahr ultralite jacket info or jacket suggestions

Just after review from anyone who's actually used the new tahr ultralite?? Looking for something with long tail to sit on. Most recent jacket was a huntech anorak but started coming apart after 5 days of use...open to any other suggestions as well, have looked at macpac, stoney creek, kuiu, firstlite but all seem too short...have a long torso as well. Have a outdoor research helium that take in pack when don't think it will rain but rips if you look at it wrong.
    Mainly for tops hunting. Cheers

Macpac Resolution (and I think Copland too) is a nice long cut, mid-thigh or so. Not exactly lightweight though. Decently priced when they pop up on clearance.

Cactus have a new longer jacket too, not cheap or light though. Definitely tough!

With hood down it falls back on my shoulders forcing you to keep it zipped up pretty high which isn’t great for when you want to let heat out. Feels far too loose in the chest which I think allows it to slip back. Other than that pretty good as a shell. The length is the best attribute

I've been through a couple of different jackets over the years and the best one I've found was an Ex Army jacket!

    http://https://www.armyandoutdoors.c...ant=4506175235

It's lightweight, folds up to nothing so I'm more inclined to take it regardless of whether it's going to rain or not, it has a good tail to sit on. It's waterproof as I've had it out in some serious rain, windproof and breathable.

The only down side is it doesn't have a waist draw string but it does have a draw cord at the bottom, there is no pockets but I guess this is something I could get sewn in through Twin Needle.

Great jacket. I've heard great things about the German Flecktarn jacket aswell.

Flip a coin and buy one as their only around $100 so you won't cry if you rip it, loose it or it doesn't turn out to be what you want.

Earth sea sky make great raincoats, worth a look. They also sell direct from there factory. Personally I prefer a full length zip and a jacket that goes lower than your shorts.

When mountain design was in Nz I got one of their longer storm coats. Comes down almost to knees. Had it about 5 years and been out in some heavy rain and shit. Rolls up into hood, so pretty compact for a big rain and wind proof coat. Weighs 750 grams made from something like gortex. Heading over to Au soon so will get another if I can.
Fabric looks / feels similar to macpac.

johnd, while over there check out Mountain Design Travellite 330 sleeping bags!

When they were in NZ I bought a Travellite 320 which has the same specs as the 330

The bag is super warm & packs down to nothing so it comes on all trips. I’ve never been cold in it!
