Anyone know how to fix this?

Got a bit carried away and tried to shove a too-big patch into my rifle, then pulled too hard to get it out

Handle popped off my Hoppes cleaning rod. Seems to be something missing but I can’t find any little bits in the workshop and don’t know what I should be looking for…

I'm guessing the alloy part was swaged at the end to loosely hold in the rebate of the rod shaft

    Nothing missing
You've just pulled hard enough to strip the swage out to straight

    Just my guess

It would have had a nylon bush to act like a bearing allowing the rod to spin in the handle, possibly its pushed up inside the handle, likely wherever it is it's cracked or otherwise broken.

Hmmm, dunno about that - feels too loose now, and I can’t see any sign of having straightened out a swage

Yeah, except I like it to be able to spin in the handle with the rifling

well two bearings either side of that groove anchor with a weld spot and get a wood turner to make a wooden handle to fit maybe

Couple of small grub screws drilled and tapped in the appropriate places through the handle to pick up on the slot if you’ve got the gear to do that, loctite them in just off touching to allow the rod to still spin freely
