    Anyone used this security camera?

Been looking for something that can workboth close to the house, and out of wifi coverage and spotted this.

Does anyone have any experience with it? Useful or a piece of rubbish??

I’d buy Reolink or Eufy. You’ll have local support then.
You get what you pay for with CCTV. Most stuff is mediocre at best but all you really want from these is to notify you of people on your property.
Most cameras are installed too high and next to useless for properly identifying people unless they’re really close due to the cheaper components used.

Probably takes a SIM card so will need to have coverage where it is I'm guessing.

Good point. It will take a sim, or it can just report via your home wifi if within range.

    I'll look into those. Cheers

A big thing to be aware of is definitely camera locations as mentioned previously. Cameras that don't record to an NVR (hard drive) typically have the storage on the camera or in a SD card in the camera housing. The reason it is possible to view live footage is not because it's been recorded, but instead it's been streamed to you via it's connection. You can see "events" such as a person walking past as it will save just those "events" to it's storage so it can store "months of footage" but in reality it's just short clips

Don't get me wrong, storing short clips is fine and if it works well that's great

However, if your robber steals the camera and it no longer has a connection to your wifi or they remove the sim, then there goes your footage too as it's only stored on the device - which is why location is so important, it needs to be close enough to catch details, but far enough away they can't reach it

Im not super techy but if you have wifi I got a tapo from jb hi fi. Probably crap but for us it been good for over a year now, you can control it from your phone pan tilt and all that shit has a mic so you can tell the dog off, can program certain areas to look at and push on the area and camera moves to that area. Pic is good and for the money I cant complain. It mounted just under the eve of our garage, it has a light on it to tell when its going that can be switched on or off, I leave it on so if someone spots it they are looking right at the camera

Cant comment on a farm situation but have a Euphy here at home. Excellent camera, No problems, easy to install but they run on 240v.

My neighbor has a couple of them. One at the shed and another one at the fuel tank and one at the bike shed. He seems to like them but they are expensive when I looked them up. But it's all setup and taken care off and gives him a green tick with his insurance so I guess you pay for that convenience?

We have a few Eufy cameras setup and I've been pretty happy with them, to be honest I've never really looked at them since setting them up although have a dedicated screen in the office at the dairy shed that has all three of them streaming, one looking down the length of the milking area in the dairy shed, one looking at the automatic drafting gate and drafting yard, and one looking down the drive past the workshop and fuel tanks that sees anything coming onto farm. They are all connected to Wifi at the dairy shed. Then I have one eufi 4g camera that uses a simcard and can put that wherever it gets signal and stream it back also, we have a road crossing (where the cows have to cross a road) down one end of the farm so quite often have it setup there so we can keep an eye on it whilst milking, never had an issue but peace of mind knowing the girls are behaving and crossing the road not buggering off to the neighbors or something. Funny enough it has actually saved us once not because our cows were misbehaving but a neighbors cows had gone walkabout at 6 in the morning and we could see them all coming down the roadside towards our road crossing so managed to get there and stop them before they got all mixed in with our cows.

a farmer mate got some pretty impressive gear from this outfit https://ajproductions.co.nz/. he's had 6 months of live streaming from waaay out the back of his farm to his phone on one set of batteries. he did say it was a bit pricey but real good service/support from the agent in tauranga. as times get hard more people start looking at helping themselves sadly...
