left is Chinese copy right side led lenser, so the led lenser is better but when you compare ones is $10 and the other $75 you gotta ask yourself is it worth paying that much more for say 15% more light ? nevertheless i'm very impressed with the copy even tho the build quality isn't quite there, but its not terrible. hope this helps someone!

just did a run till flat test and the Chinese copy outlasted the led lenser but only by a little about what you'd expect for the light output difference

Be careful not to give the unit a knock after a period of usage. I did when putting it on the bench and the solder holding the light emitter to the circuit board failed (probably soft after being on) and the emitter "fell off."

No way to re attach it.

Actually they can be put back on, I do it all the time.

Just remove the little board the LED is on. Apply heat to the back of the board (I use a heating attachment on a $10 gas soldering iron) till the solder melts and put the LED back in place. Allow to cool and put it all back together.

    ...Ahhhh.........

Thank you for your method, but we are speaking of "apples and oranges"

I agree, the task of re soldering or replacing a LED with wire "legs / connections" is simple.
The Creelights however, although an LED, are mounted quite differently.

Here is the front view of the cree LED mounted on it's own PCB ........cree1.jpg

Here is a view of where the connections of the PCB are soldered/ sweated to the main headlight unit....cree3.jpg

Note that it is at the bottom of a cavity within that unit which is a sealed one with no means of disassembly apart from destruction. Even if it were to be able to be disassembled, the chances of just holding the two PCB's together and applying heat (where would one apply heat?) would not be a precise enough method to avoid solder flow across all 3 contact point, effectively shorting out the whole caboodle. IMHO.
