The best chainsaw is probably one that hasn't been under a komatsu d65.
Yes it is salvageable.But with a dozen other stihls I am in no hurry to fix this one.It will be cheaper to get the parts in overseas than the silly prices we pay here for them.Same with saws for that matter.

When I was in the bush ... twenty plus years ago .... the husky ignition wire was a monthly replacement and the kickback mechanism would vibrate the expensive side cover to bits. After a couple of months we would cut the kick back lever off. Expensive to run.
Had a new saw...provided by a good boss...after the standard few months it began to rattle so cut the kickback mechanism off...a week later...boom.... a massive kickback in the face.
Haven't recommended Husky's since...I hope some of their designs have improved.
