Portability is another factor, I don’t mean into the Bush, although could do that I suppose as it comes as a truly portable system in its own carry bag and all, it I mainly mean into the house, my other systems are big, dirty, noisey and clunky and best left in the knife making workshop, this one I can bring into the house or take to someone else’s house, or restaurant, wherever I need to sharpen easily.
Adjustment was the next reason, I can see that this could be adjusted just with the locking wheels without needing to get the upgraded micro adjustment models, I have a angle cube and have just verified this thought.
I should add the other bits I have (which work for other models too) are an angle cube so you can verify what angle you are working on, a 800/1000 grit diamond stone, a 1500/glass platen stone with 1.5 micron lapping film, a scissor attachment and a low angle attachment.
I am toying with the idea of the 50/80 grit diamond stones too, although I believe they are very harsh and won’t get too much use except for knife repair or production. I am considering strops but am dubious as to how they could be better than normal stropping.
