I'm still a big fan of polyprop. It's fairly tough and just doesn't hold moisture so I find it warmer. Has the advantage that after a few days of foot slogging I don't have to queue at the entrance to the hot pools. Usually wear shorts over longjohns and if too cold, wet or windy throw on the overtrou.

Above mentions Merino LJ's - be way to costly to wear like that "if" genuine Merino wool - and yes would wear through real quick
Wool is not meant to be rubbed open to abrasive elements

Have you noticed if you put the Polyprop LJohns on "after" your legs already are cold - they stay cold ??
Or is it just me ??

I find they warm up fine. Good if you do a lot of river crossings. 20m past the last crossing and they're already fairly dry, not holding cold water against you, no sagging.

Thinking back - prob knowing me (as I hate anything other than putties on my legs) was putting on at camp at end of day
If put on and moving - prob OK

Yep - Poly don't hold water - but they do hold BO

The warehouse merino is genuine merino, just lower quality stuff. For a wee while there the polyprop wasn't actual polyprop though. They kept a pretty good lid on that one haha

Polyprop on legs with shorts over top and use to be polyprop top but now merino top as seems to keep me cooler when the day warms up and can hunt in it all day. But polyprop is better on legs for pushing through wet snowgrass and river crossings, drys very fast.

postie plus......less than $20 a pair....they also have short and long sleaved tops.... long johns are awesome and yes when the bush lawyer hooks them too badly I dont cry over the cost

last year they had nato green so I bought 3-4 pair of each..... warmer than toast,last weekend it was colder than a frogs tit,breeze coming off the snow I even put on polarfleece gloves (NEVER wear gloves normally) but with longjohns and rugger shorts my arse was warm all day.
