Looking for a new pair of boots.Ive looked at the crispi range but looking for recommendations on brands and what not.i work as a possum trapper so I walk some pretty steep stuff at times. While I'm at does anyone know of some good short canvis gaitors I currently have the stoney creek short gaitors and I find that they slip down on my skinny legs quite a lot.Im looking at getting the bush buck gaitors but keen on any other options.

for the price of the short bush buck gaitors you can't go wrong, i got mine on sale for $35. They haven't done a heap of work but seem ok so far.
I use andrew boots for work on the farm they are a heavy boot and have found them very water proof (most water proof boot ive owned) seem to have very good grip. I have had them for 15months one repair so far but should get another 15months out of them they were $600 (also a set of gumboots every two years)
boss uses grisports and gets 12months and well as a set of gumboots
Using a boot every day for work is not like using a boot to go hunting once a month, so when you here a hunter got two years out of his lowa's but only used them but only hunts thirty days a year
Yes - correct about hearing time frames of boot lasting
Spoke to one guy and he was raving about his Gri boots lasting 5 years and still going strong
But he only hunted them once every Spring :-)
Andrews - well you have done well on farm as farmers I know in King Country cant get a year out of them
Think it's to do with yard work more so (urine) - not sure ??
Boots prices here are crazy
Tibet - $300+ mark up in them maybe more if they not coming out of Europe which I suspect the NZ imported are not ??
Crispi granates and a pair of canvas puttys from farmlands can't go wrong for steep stuff iv had 2 yrs out of my set and that's in steep Central otago hills in and out of sheep yards ect set of mendls lasted me 8mths
Crispi boots been great for me got 2 pair's light one's for hunting & full shank steel capped for every day work iv never got wet in them until it's come over the top you got find boots that fit you thought iv had Andrew boots for work & they only boots iv got sore feet in gorse spraying on steep hills with knapsack & they where fucked after 8 months of use as boot in that $600-700 price usely last 2 years plus if you wanting short canvas puttys get the Wilkins canvas one's from farmlands or derect from Wilkins canvas I get a new pair bot once year with ever day use they sit on your legs well & go down over boots a long way to & just stay put day in day out
I bought a pair of Crispi Nevada’s about a year ago & absolutely love em. Admittedly I’m not in em every day, but they do see regular use. Hands down the comfiest boots I’ve ever owned & didn’t take any breaking in either.
a bit up the road possibly but locally made try TwinNeedle in chch, they do a Puttie, Gaiter, and the whole hog "Chaps" as well.
I wear Markhor gaiters and have been very happy with them, however given that i don't wear them every time I got out they probably only get 5-10 days use a year.
They do have a nylon canvas inner so tend to sweat if used in hot weather.
In the plus side, s/s wire under, domes, zipper and velcro up the front. Do a great job of keeping my boots dry in creek and river crossings up to the knee.
Bottom third outer is heavy Black nylon canvas then upper 3/4 is Silent micro fleece outer which is quiet to walk in, probably not so hard wearing but the nylon inner will last a long time.

Have used meindls and haix boots over many years in forestry and have been really happy with both brands. They have both been v comfortable, good grip and have lasted well.
Recently we bought 3 pairs of Andrews boots for work and discovered they have a fault with them. We attempted to contact the importer to make a suggestion and ensure they are aware of the problem but they are refusing to reply to any emails so will never be buying their boots again. Had just spent $2100 on their boots too.

skinny legs IS NOT a problem I suffer with but gaiters fall down on fat legs too....over the years have found two solutions...first one was kids soccer shin pads inside canvas gaiters....also bonus not barking shins on hidden logs.....these days I have cheap gaiters off trademe..think $10-15 cheap...they have velcro up the front..it helps hold them up as it dot want to bend....for the price Im happy enough with the longivity..getting more than 12mths out of a pair...so 20??? plus trips. dont like the short gaiters so all mine are just below knee in height...sure saves the shins a beating and wasps have less to target.
I had a repair done on my andrews late last year under warranty, i haven't used them much this year maybe 80 hours and have notice the soul is starting to lift again, be very interesting if they stand by there product. Find out more this weekQuote:
