I am on my second pair of Hunters Element.
They fit me which is the key.
Price isn't too bad either.
Used to hunt in whatever I had.
John Bulls also fitted the calf length ones, didn't worry about them, just got another pair when needed
Im not really a hunter, ive only gotten my license recently, but with my outdoor experience, if you want a boot you cant go wrong the the Jungle Boots Army and Outdoors have some old USGI and British Army surp. They are old compared to new and modern systems but ive never been wrong with them.
The J boot is OK when travelling light. But were absolutely horrible when hauling a heavy pack, rifle and webbing.

Fwiw I started on the GRI boots 20 years ago when the John Bull steelcaps started falling to bits after a year. Daily use crosscutting & machine operating.
1st GRI's did 5+ years . Went on machine full time and 3rd pair still good.
Have the cheapish soft toe hikers and they've been great. Worn daily instead of shoes.
The clips for the laces can be nasty if they snag.
Bastard when your feet are tied together unexpectedly.

I don’t know if you can still get them. But I have had a pair of Talons for years. Pretty sure the seller was a member here. They are Ukrainian combat boots I believe. Used to se for $180 a pair on trade me. Best boots I have ever had.
