Hi there,
Has anyone bought and tried the Durston packs?
If so how would they fare as a hunting pack?
The pack weight and simplicity looks very compelling.
I have a Durston tent and very happy with it.
Cheers

@stug is a Durston guy.
I have the tent but haven’t tried the backpack.
My partner has one (40ish L) that she's used for a couple of big thru-hikes and a lot of shorter tramping. It's very light but not very robust and doesn't carry weight well. One of the straps failed this year. I don't think I'd consider them suitable for hunting use.
These Gossamer are a good alternative. Featherweight, value and tough.

This is a Gorilla 50.

Come on @Thar, show em' your Southern Lite pack. Southern Lite is NZ made, I'd be looking at that if your looking for an ultralite backpack and potentially a hunting set up. Why pay USD.
Durston x-mid tents are brilliant but their packs are too lightweight and not strong enough for carrying meat in any capacity.
The Gorilla is less than a third the weight of my cheap and cheerful 60l pack. If only I had the money...

Here's mine when I retired it and gave it to a forum member. He says a couple of years later it's still going strong - and he thanked me for the couple of 223 rounds he found in one of the pockets.
@Eat Meater Ive got a 40 litre Gossamer which is in very good nik but its top pocked needs the lining sewn cos its the one I had a battery/223 round explosion in and it did that damage. Pack perfect. You can have it. PM me your address and I will drop it in.
