    Durston X-Dome

Anyone pulled the trigger and bought one of these? Or anyone planning to?

    Cheers

No but they look good I have a X- mid solid which is awesome, but the dome has the advantage of being able to pick it up and move it around to suite the ground contour.

I have a x-mid2 and find it great. I was looking at the X-Dome but I wonder how it would go in a big wind.

Let me know how it goes, pretty tempted on the next release with the weight and size of it.

Might pay to sit tight for a year or so and waiting for the product improvements to really kick in. Really like the design, reminds me of the Hilleberg Soulo. But seen a couple of backpacker/hiker youtubers break poles or pieces on it either on review or in field. The carbon poles look fragile. He's making improvements, but possibly hold out, as he's developing "four season" versions at the mo. If you can't afford the dyneema, don't be put off polyester, it is brilliant as a material (sheds water, stays taunt). Reallly rate this material.

Yeah its an ever evolving beast. I see he has now added a solid interior and aluminium poles which should increase its usability for minimal weight increase

A mate is buying one, think they now have aluminium trekking poles as an option.

Looking at one of these in a couple of months if I can scrape together the funds, so a review would be awesome

One has had one for a year or so, mostly camping in the Kaimanawa bush, likes it. Other mate is about to order. Liistening to Dan Durston on Mindful Hunter, he's making improvements on each batch of tents ordered, which is good. Be looking at the aluminium poles over carbon, although apparently that's sorted now. The other thing to note is the length, if you are over 6 foot 2, you probably want to order the plus.

Luckily there is a shop here that keeps some stock so when I'm ready I can go and look at them.

What shop is that Happy Jack? I'd be keen to check one out in person before throwing down the cash. Saving for the Exo K4x as well lol
