Seems most hunters prefer just a tent fly and a ground sheet instead of a tent? Any major reason for this?
I have a huge problem with creep crawleys absolutely loving me, and wanting to hang out. Especially the bastard bitey types, what do you lot tend to combat that with?
Interesting the lack of stuff involved in the huntandfish links first aid kit.
I must admit past few trips I've had nothing which is bad I know.
What do you guys recommend on these matters?
Yeah I am going to Ballards Hut. Well at least that is where I will be based.
As the only way into a sleeping bag for an insect is through the head end, then you really only have to cover your face and keep the hood up.
What's actually out there that can harm you?...centipede?...weta?...drink heaps of whiskey and then your breath will keep all at bay.
I know there is anything that'll kill me, but insects really seem to love me. I must have tasty blood and warm orifices, as I seem to get attacked more than any one I know. I usually take a tent anyway, but I'm currently re-assessing my camping supplies.
I presume you have a lighter to light your candles? A face cloth is useful to wash yourself down after a hard day on the hill. You will feel a whole lot better and your sleeping bag will last longer.
Is that enough food? Seems a bit light to me? What does everybody else think? Noticed there wasn't any scrogen/nuts/dried fruit. Maybe something to consider. Would also recommend 4+ 56 gm packets of Horleys 'Replace'.
I don't seem to have a issue with bugs. Try a bit of mesh and just flap it over your face or if theres such thing as roll on insect replent try that?
Hello everybody
I’m sitting up here in Denmark and reading your posts with big interest .
And I’m wondering, what is a fair price for that flight, cause we are a couple of guys there talked about planning a trip to NZ for hunting.

@Beetroot eat heaps of marmite before you go. Reduces how much you get attacked by sand flys and mosquitoes. And if you are going with someone else don't tell them. Will double your chances of being left alone.
Good call Rushy
