I have an HC65 (v1) and a D25LR (looks like there has been a slight update with these too)
If your primary use/reason is the red light - go for the 25. Much stronger than the nitecore there. The red on my nitecore is enough for walking a decent track at night, but not quite there for rough or overly uneven going, in my experience. The 25 is a solid step brighter on red, noticeably better.
That said, I prefer the modes of and trust the nitecore a bit more, so I use that as my primary unless I’m specifically wanting the extra red strength of the 25lr. I do still tend to take the 25lr empty as a spare when heading backcountry, as it really is nice and lightweight.
The 25LR has multiple levels of the red too, unlike my nitecore, which only has the one, with a secondary slow red flash.
Both good lights.
