After some new binos going to take the plunge and get some decent ones after looking through my mates leica trinovids, just after people's thoughts as there is a heap out there I'm currently considering 10x42 trinovids and ultravids or the 8x32 ultravids and Swarovski slc etc just wondering if the extra $1000 to step up over the trinovids is that noticeable I know its subjective but haven't had a chance to look through both so any advice is appreciated

Leica Geovids 10x42, awesome binos HH2 has, definitely what I'm getting when the coin is available!
The seals are better on leica than on Swaro anyway. When we were getting HH2's he was still debating swaro or Leica, Swaro have something like a 50cm underwater gurantee whereas Leica has a 5 m. Or something like that. They are both great though. Somehow the Leica are also a few hundred cheaper.
Buy once, cry once.....Swarovski EL Range, 8 x 42........I've lent them to mates, I think this pair have sold another 4....bought them new off ebay, at my doorstep for $NZ3600.00......didn't get charged GST:cool:

I will consider the seals if I ever need my binos to see scallops or crays:D
The glass is simply the best on the market. They range further than I will ever need.
Took me a while to trust swaros again, but these have been thru extremes and passed.

Another vote for Swaro EL's.
Have had mine for about 5 years now and they have been out in temperatures from -10 to +30 degrees with no issues.
You can't buy better glass!
What pouch / harness do you have in tactic R93?

There is nothing wrong with using the software as long as you have worked out the limit you can shoot to accuratley before going to a more comprehensive ballistic solution.
The bushnells are getting good consistent kills out past 600 after that we use shooter.with my zeiss I just use the rf as the software is next to usless.thank god for shooter and mobile phones!
I am sure there is nothing wrong with the software but I would rather to just use my kestrel and my shooter app. I always have the time as I will only ever shoot paper and steel at LR. Inside 550 I use my pea brain. I do manage to remember some useful things:D Unless it is to windy or extreme atmospherics.
I know nothing of the new Leica program but it will be interesting to see what LR buffs here think of it............if they ever show up.
I have to do the same as the ballistic engine in the zeiss has no inclinometer and only gives a solution in cm or inches not mils and moa.at least using the kestel and shooter you are shooting to the conditions at the moment even though it only really starts mattering after 600 ishQuote:

I nearly choked spending $300 on 10 x 42 binos and I have spotted deer from around 800 metres away. It seems like spending over 3500 on binos is fairly normal on here at least. I gotta adjust to this kind of spending!!

The retail price for the new hd-b leica in nz is $4500, with one dealer I was in contact with could pre-Order for $4000 but unknown when they will turn up, I paid $2995us for my hd-bs and they left USA end of last month, I suspect they'll owe me $4300ish landed
