Hunting Belt - What do you use ?

I'm keen to see /here what others are using for hunting belts / bum bags etc. I've tried a few different types and have settled on the one below. I hunt with this and a Puka - and find this belt set up a quick and easy way get to things without digging into you day bag etc. I've put a couple of snaps of it below. The first one is of the belt and the other is to give an idea of the stuff in it.

The belt is light weight seat belt type material with a quick clamp buckle - and from the left ;

- small pouch for GPS and spare Batteries
- Medium size pouch for 1st aid and emergency stuff
- Medium size pouch for, spare ammo x 6 pills, electricians tape, snack, head lamp, bit of string, Kleenec tissue pack for Bush No2,easy sharpener
- Drink bottle & holder
- knife
- Small pouch for camera

I used to carry a bit of shit on my belt. Now just a pouch some ammo, lighter, musiely bar, permits and some rubber inside it and a knife. But my last hunt i lived in the bag

For years I wore an old army web belt with knife, compass, water bottle, ammo pouches etc but now in the last couple of years it is all in a day pack. Not as convenient but easier on old hips.

Yeah. You don't need a heap of shit hanging off your waist. PLB. Knife. 3 spare rounds. Range finder if I need it.

Everything else in my day pack. I need that for meat anyway.

I carry everything in my 25L day bag that way nothing catches on bushes/branches when sneaking along. Rifle sling also lives in my bag

I'm a badass lifer so I have a Sambrown (just the belt) with knife, one pouch for binos, first aid/survival kit (very small), six rounds and head torch.

All that stuff is about 4 times the capacity of my bum bag.

I used to carry everything on the belt - but now I only carry what I need to hunt, navigate and eat. all of the rest of it goes into the Day pack , knife included.

The pack is easier, more pleasant to carry, so if its not needed, into the pack it goes.

I put most of my kit in my day bag. Just my knife, small ammo pouch, and my rangefinder (when required) on my belt nowadays.

As for the belt itself, I have a hand made leather one my wife got made for me 7-8 years ago: :cool:

Nice belt. It looks to good to take into the bush to get horribly wet and manky

It gets used on every hunt Rushy. Super comfortable and can hold a bit of weight if it needs to. Looks a bit more worn than in the photos as they are from when I first got it.

I guess that it makes sense to use it Bryan. So many people (myself included) have things they really cherish but don't they get full enjoyment from them because they are reluctant to make use of them.

Ridgeline olive green 'Rata' belt....fits all i need, with a small 5 ltr pack for the backsteaks yet to be tested ;o(

I was shooting on a private block last month. Showed a new hunter (there with a mate) how to gut his first deer (large Red hind). Next day he was with me again when I shot a Fallow. Showed him how to turn it into a backpack. Unfortunately it was a bit smaller than I thought so upon completing the backpack said "and this is why they are called handbags" and picked it up with one arm.

Damn that is a lot of stuff to carry on your belt. I doubt I have that much in my day bag.
On my belt goes knife, small pouch (with map, spare ammo, map, matches, diamond steel and short rope) and rangefinder.

The rest will go in day bag if carrying. Although I did buy a bumbag from one day to try out

HMMMMMMMMMMMMM ........I thought I was moving light , .........I had a major near miss years ago and now paranoid enough I cant go into the bush with out my 1st aid kit and GPS....I don't carry anything in my Puka - I leave that empty for hope I can fill it with meat !! ....

I don't have a day bag so all my shit gets put into mates one and he gets to carry.
Has worked well in my favor for many years LOL
