Way too small. Needs to be at least 19" long and more than 3/4kg in weight!

Got a couple of them as ornaments.
If you draw it from the sheath it has to draw blood😆

Found that old myth, doesn't work so well for the ladies using them in the house in Nepal!

There are no issues. They are not classed as a dangerous weapon. I have brought many in directly myself with. No holdup or customs work required what so ever.

Regarding blade size and weight, heavier is not always better. I have an Iraqi Freedom, Have used the Enduring Freedom and have also got a standard "agricultural" one which is a couple of hundred grams lighter. It cuts much better due to the blade having less thickness. The former two have a presence and feel all of their own but don't slash as well.

Tempering can be a bit hit and miss but you're always going to get that with some dude squatting over a fire with jandals and a safety squint.

@Feral good to get the feedback about weight / thickness / cutting power. Mine will be used mainly for clearing tracks through manuka, so thinking heavier would be better. Some pretty thick manuka to get through without the chainsaw

Went to see Brian (makes Svord knives) on Saturday. He has some lovely stuff, including machetes, in stock, and does custom making as well. He uses high carbon steel (Finnish Steel I think) Jacqui is threatening to buy me a Svord for my birthday next month, so we wanted to have a look at what he has. Brian is a nice bloke and I'm sure he'd be happy to have a chat with you. PM me if you want his contact details, or just google svord knives. Good luck.

PM me should you want a quote on a any of the items you are after. Have started making a few sheaths for his knives based on the ones that come with the standard and Deluxe knives.

Your sheaths are definitely a step or two up from the terrible sheaths they come with

Mate, a lighter one will work better for you for that use.

They are a bloody great blade for a machete substitute. The design is such that the blade leads and so there is no way that you can smack your knuckles (as can be the case with a conventional machet). Don't worry about the lack of weight either. Once you get used to using one you can slice though wrist thickness branches in a single swipe. Oh and if you follow R93's advice then make sure it is some other bugger's blood. I have an enduring respect for the Ghurka but there is no way I would cut myself just because I pulled a Kukri out.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
