if your not happy with the convex curve just get a belt sander with 80grit and turn it upside done in a vice to give yo a flat grind. then use your lanskey just remember the angle you sharpened at because that is the angle to steel at. failing that the guy who offered to sharpen it for you has good prices and will probably show you the steeling angle
