Now thats getting high tech to sharpen a knife but at least no one will ever complain about your knife not being sharp;)
I bought some japanese water stones last year, coarse & fine & then a strop, gets them nice & sharp.
I think I'll go and throw my Lanksy deluxe kit in the bin now :o
Bloody hell, I was just checking out that website a few nights ago and very nearly pushed the buynow button, is it an easy system to use?
Watching his vids he makes it look easy and I never realised knives could be that sharp!!! okay I am shit at sharpening knives.
More info please
Real easy to use, I do a heap of knife's for the misses, shes a butcher that cant sharpen a knife to save herself. All the angles are marked and because of the way they work the angle stays the same for both sides. I have the apex 4 kit
Bugger it I just ordered one, been mulling over it all week
I got one because the claw did, rabbiter got one after using mine and his mate got one after using his............. A great bit of kit
Ha ha, I started the rot... They are really good, you won't be disapointed Steve
Just went over the misses knives again, razor sharp. Once all the angles are set I'm really only touching them up.
They come very highly recommended by a few knife forums, they make the lansky look like a pile of junk thats for sure
Holy mother of god that looks complicated.
I'm buying one.
Shit thats flash alright, Me thinks its a bit flash for the old Green river :yarr: how muchie ?
Something like $250US for the kit crzyman has I think. I ordered one earlier too :D
Sounds like we should have got a forum deal!!
He will be thinking "what the" after a flood of orders all from NZ
Linishing belt (180 grit) and buffing wheel on the bench grinder here. ;)
$250 to sharpen a knife!!!!!!!!!!
I can see the benefit if your sharpening a lot of knives as the lansky isn't fast particularly user friendly. But for someone like me who has er.. 5 knives that need to be kept sharp I could pay a pro to sharpen them for me for years for the same money. Bloody neat looking bit of kit though.
this is mine it seems to work but not to portable i got one shaving sharp the other day :grin:Attachment 94
My Edge Pro Apex arrived today, hope its still raining tomorrow so I can get into sharpening something!!
Great stuff, you better send me the details and ill pay you for the extra stones you got for me.......
If you like a larger stone or what to sharpen somethnig bigger

Anyone got one?
Looks akward to use and one angle is not right from what Ive read
Apparently you can change the angle..I dont have anywhere to fit the bugger though :TT TT:
As for the other beast , did everyone order the apex? Or that commercial brute?
everyone I know has the apex, its only difference is the base
Did four knives this morning and it works a treat, suppose I had better watch the dvd and read the instructions next
Goddamn it........you guys need to stop posting links to cool shit.
.......mines on its way......
Everyone get the basic one? or the upgraded kits?
I got the Apex 4 Kit, those polishing tapes sure do put a scary edge on a knife :psychotic::ninja:
I got the upgraded kit with a few extra stones and polishing tapes.
They were superb to deal with and answered emails promptly and were very obliging, even included change in US dollars as the postage was able to be combined. Most impressed
For anyone who is interested.
Here are some pricey sharpening machines out there!!

I'm not taking anything away from the devices on here because I know they do a great job and they are practical. For me though half the fun of having a good knife is keeping it razor sharp by hand. I use Japanese water stones. 1000 and 4000 grit and a leather strop with Barkriver compound to finish. I put a convex edge on them if I can. They aren't sharp unless they will run through newspaper without any force. Not that they need to be this sharp for general hunting.
How sharp are you getting your knives with the Apex etc?
Trouble is though, now that I have got onto this I'm inclined to buy knives just to try different steel and makes.
the knives I sharpen for my butcher misses will slice through thin paper without any force, the biggest problem is with any bone hit does damage to the edge, the edge you put on a knife has to suit the job its doing
So whens the best time to polish a blade and when not?
The bloke comments on polishing being no good on a kitchen knife, because u dont get a grippy serrated bit I suppose to do ya tomatos etc...so when is polishing handy?
Wrong way round I think savageshooter, you don't want the grippy serrated for Tomato's.
I've got the linisher set to 35 degree's, so hold the knife level. Then onto the buff.
