Lace cutting boots
Heres my simple solution to avoid boots that snip laces.
I hate eyelets and even replacing those they seem to wear and start snipping laces in no time.:pissed off:
A $20 trip to Bunnings and half an hours work and my boots I was ready to throw have got at least another 6 months.

Its easy as, open one side of the figure 8 chain, remove from adjacent link, squeeze up so hole is just wide enough for rivet shaft.
Thread a small washer onto rivet then thread the rivet from the inside out (this doesnt end up looking pretty but avoids the nobbly bit of the pulled rivet against your foot).
Slide on the chain link followed by another washer, give the gun a couple of squeezes and your done.
I find it evens out the pressure of the laces as it allows them to flow freely through the chain links.

Hobnails...there is a cobbler in HB who I took my boots to to get the heels redone...he said he had not seen hobnail boots in ages...did a great job and even put in some brandnew nails as well...I was rapt.!!
