This sort of BS pisses me off.
I’d go back and throw your weight around.
The Consumers Guarantee’s Act is very clear and simple.
A product must be fit for purpose.
It should also last for a reasonable period of time.
It’s incumbent on them to prove you’ve abused them, and used them for something outside of their purpose. For example riding your motorbike at the speedway, and grinding a hole in the side of the boot. Ask them to show you where it states you shouldn’t walk in them too much or too far, or on a formed track.
Whoever said that must be a fucking halfwit.
I’d take them back again, say you’ve had some advice. You’ll give them one more opportunity to rectify their faulty product.
Failure to do so, and you’ll be taking it up with the commerce commission, and furthermore you’ll be posting the whole experience on Facebook and Instagram.
You should have them scrambling to give you a new pair.
