    LiPo powered air compressor

Has anyone bought one of the little hand held compressors for pumping up tyres and can recommend a brand or what to steer clear of?

So many on AliExpress etc that I figure someone here must have bought one and can give an honest opinion?

    Ta, Ray.

I’ll look into that, I already run their 18v tools.

I've got this Ryobi one https://youtu.be/1smil5PldgY

It's bloody brilliant. Auto set pressure for tyres. Reasonably fast. Also does air beds, inflating and deflating.

Same issue though as all the battery tools now available, you get locked into the brand once you make the first purchase as after that you only buy skins.

The ones to avoid are the cheap pistol type ones. They are useless, slow as. The ads, when they were running, were fraudulent in that they showed tyres expanding very quickly. They just don't have the capacity to do that. Sped up video.

Ok thanks, those type are the ones I was wanting to know about. I'll go pick up the Makita.

It would be interesting to know how those Ryobi units go on bigger 4wd tyres. After watching the video in Zimmers link where it took around 10 min to inflate a car tyre from flat to 38PSI.
How long would it take to raise a larger tyre from say 15 PSI back to 35/40 PSI after a day out 4wding. Possibly take a couple of batteries to do a set of four by the look of things.

Have one of the pistol looking ones (airhawk i think) it works, sure it takes a while and has to be plugged into the cig plug.

Curious as to the ryobi +1 (insurance have me these as replacement in a fire instead of dewalt) as i now have a few of their tools and the air compressor was in the maybe list.

IIRC for serious 4 wheel driving I don't think he was that enthused with it. It's a while since I watched the clip.

Looked at the Makita reviews, a good unit.

    I brought the Mi one:

I don't think it would fill up a flat 4wd tyre without a rest and a recharge but thats probably true of most small air compressors.
