At the current price of LPG they are getting brutally expensive to feed, thats part of the reason they aren't so available now. Also, carbon monoxide is an issue with their operation. Also, the new generation COB battery area lamps are a lot quieter, don't flicker and also run a wee bit quieter...
I have a Coleman spirits lamp out in the shed and a Gascraft or Great Outdoors LPG unit for the 'just in case' requirement, but to be fair I only pull them out once a year or so just to remind myself how to drive them!!! The gas one is a goody for that, get it wrong and it takes your eyebrows without a hint of mercy.
