I have a maxtoch H01R certainly can't fault it, shits all over my old ledlenser for battery life and brightness, it also runs the same batteries as my x2 shooters so for me that is a consideration, sorry don't know anything about the nightcore.
I don't think Maxtoch make HO1R amy more - haven't for a year or so. It was a very good, very durable wee headlamp - I think there was just one repair over product's 5 year life span. If you can find one grab it.. .otherwise look at Black Diamond, Petzl, Nitecore.
For anyone who has HO1Rs I have some replacement headstraps you can have free. Just PM me and will send..
As previously mentioned, if you can get your hands on a Maxtoch H01 or H01R, snap it up. I have both generations of this headlamp, and they are still working very well after a lot of years of abuse.
Same cannot be said for any of the other brands I tried.
I’ve got two of the maxtochs. Good basic durable lights.

I have the H01R. It's good. Can't say I've stretched the battery. Brightness is good, if not overwhelming. It's a small package, so you can't expect too much. I've also had good experiences with Nitecore torches, but not the model mentioned. No doubt, the HC65 is good too.
They are incredibly closely matched

Holy hell 800hrs at 1000 lumans from 1 18650 that is amazing
My only dislike of my Maxtoch is that the light colour is too white and bounces back, specially when any dust etc in the air
the hc65 is good, one thing i dont like about it is you have to unscrew and remove the end cap to be able to plug it in and charge it. not sure if this is the same with the other one, but i'm guessing its only a matter of time before it gets lost and the IP rating goes with it.
I vote for a zebra light. Simple robust and very bright. Long lasting too with nitecore 3500mAh. NL1835.
Hey guys Thank you for the respond & info from all, might well be sorted for a bit as a member is sending me his spare, which is bloody awesome of him !
Quentin, Scout and Echo your spare Maxtoch headlamp bands are in the post.
No charge for item or post - just pass on some help to the next hunter you meet.. :)
Pretty easy fix is to thread charging cable through the cap, can't get lost that way. Problem solved.
I have both lights, I snapped up 3 of the maxtochs when I heard they were going to stop making them. Have just started on the HC65, nice light so far. Takes a little bit to work out all the modes, but nothing 10 minutes with the manual doesn't fix.
Hi have been using one of these sofirn headlight torches for a couple years... can’t fault it. 18650 and nice low, medium, high and boots modes.

Love my HC65.
I have a H01 sent to me from @MSL, really appreciate him sending that & it is very good, I like a lot of the functions & will see how it goes !
What amazes me is the amount of & quality of flash lights & heads lights now days, truly amazing !
My old Mag-lite has teeth marks all over from my early Thar & rough country hunts where I needed two hands, even my old rifle sling has lol !
Well now I have the new head strap to fit my H01 should the rubber fail , thank you @mudgripz appreciate you sending that to !
Cheers @mudgripz. Very much appreciated :D
In the market for a new head torch as just broke my led lenser.
I see the maxtoch H01r Are no longer available.
Just been looking at the nitecore hc60 on Ali express.
Look to be what I’m after, any feed back on them? Or a similar head torch I should look at?
After a small/light one for getting back to camp and use around camp, don’t need a heap of features etc..
Cheers
Cheers mate just had a look into that one and looks like that will be the go
Does anyone know who the Ledlenser NZ agent is ? I cant find out, sent a complaint to their international addy with no response. NZ retailer not helping me.
Tight Lines are the official distributors
Pretty sure Tightlines is the distributer.

HC65 is awesome. Been using this for 7day trips, extremely reliable and quality. Highly recommend
I'm thinking a Nitecore NU25 could be worth a look to ?
There is a $5 difference between the 25 and the 32.
The only advantage the 25 has over the 32 is weight and at 76 grams the 32's weight is negligible unless you're a trail runner and even then, the superior battery life and throw would outweigh that.
I have no idea why they have not discontinued the 25 line.
So you are saying look up to NU32 then, I was told the older NU20 was a great light for a simple light ?
The NU20 has a 30 minute beam to 80m on turbo. Drop it down to the high setting and you'll get 6 hours. It is very simple if thats what you're after and its 10 bucks cheaper than the NU32.
The NU32 is no more difficult to use. On off button operates in the same manner.
