Interestingly, when brought my macpac Microlight, 10 or so years ago, in the package was a tube of silicone sealant that they said needed to be applied before the tent would be waterproof. I pitched the tent as instructed, applied the sealant to the seams and job done. No sticky after mess, and it's been fine, I haven't had to reapply it yet, but maybe that is because it only gets used for about 3 weeks of the year. I've got an even older Celeste tent that I decide to give the same treatment at at the same time, seeing as I had the tube out. We got court out in a serious down pour for 2 days in the Landsborough, both tents stood up well! There was no sealing tape on either tent so obviously the silicone was sufficient.
