I will be sleeping with my appendages well and truly inside my tent around any dodgy north islanders in the future

I have the same and agree except there is no agent in NZ now so no back up service. I have had a pole break on mine and it went through the fly and Terra Nova in UK don't want to know anything about it. Shame.

Have replaced it with a MSR Hubba NX Solo 1 for USD245 and will get the Terra Nova fixed by someone local.

I should qualify what I said about Terra Nova: part of the problem with my tent (Solar Competition) was that the model is discontinued. TN would have sent me a new set of poles if they had had them in stock (for a fee), but they didn't have any. I also have a Terra Nova Quassar Lightweight 2 person and its a fantastic tent - never had any trouble with it including 10 days in Fiordland.

I have a 3 and a 2 man 3F UL tent, copy of the MSR hubba hubba and it seems pretty good so far.
Zips have all held up and seams seem great.
I had a macpack Olympus before these and they are not quite the same build quality but for $150 you can't really go wrong.
Was thinking of getting one of the nature hike tents to compare to them, but haven't yet

Have heard those are great tents Ryan but are we comparing a 4kg 4 season mountain tent and a 1.5kg 3 season tent for performance in the wind?

That's right. The Quasar super light like mine is 2.4kg, but its certainly quite a different beast to the topic of this thread.

I'd be interested to hear what you have to say about the Tagar, i've heard a lot of good reviews.

Sold the Taga. Didn't like the fact it didn't have a separate inner. I suspected it would be useless on west coast because it would be full of condensation.

I have the naturehike curris 2. Have had ut in some serious wind and she has held up fine no leaks yets, very light weight for the size of it. Fits myself my gear and a dog in easy, 2 pple be cossy but still fine. Only thing is the pegs are very light alloy and to short so replace them with longer stronger ones and cant complain for the price. $280 mine was at the time through bushbuck, but that was not long after that model come out so could be cheaper now.

It is a pity they have had good write ups but not to be found.
Have been to Macpac shops ChCh and Rotorua none in stock told in ChCh store they would be in June.
Well June has been and gone.

I have a duolite. Used it couple of times. One good windy weekend in the ben ohau range and it was fine but i didn't sleep much. I did put a rip in it packing it up i think they fixed it no charge. They had sold out and had a few to repair so took a couple of weeks to get it back. very light and easy to put up some good features in it. Welcome to come have a look if in the area.
