New boots needed - after thoughts

Well I spoke too soon @Dreamer
My Lowa's have started the dreaded sole separation
So far I'm looking at some Crispi Summit GTX boots but thinking they may be a bit excessive for North Island bush. https://dwights.co.nz/products/crisp...39878727696462

The Crispi Valdres EVO GTX look pretty good too. https://dwights.co.nz/products/crisp...AaAqa5EALw_wcB

Keen to know peoples thoughts on some decent hunting boots with good support (shot ankles and knees).

Old boys please refrain from suggesting Ashleys or whatever they are

I used a pair of Hanwag's for a couple of years, lasted considerably longer than Meindl's or Lowa's. Probably around 250 hard work days per year, constantly wet. And very comfortable.

I have Crispi Summit GTX after having two pairs of full leather Meindl’s, and After the Summits I won’t ever be going back to a full leather boot.

The area we hunt most often is quite wet, and we cross rivers and creeks often each day so our boots are always soaked. This kills leather boots, but the Summits have lasted extremely well. The rand is still fully attached, but a small portion of stitching on the boot (not on the rand) is starting to come apart - but this is after about 3-4 years. This is the first pair of boots I have owned that I have worn out the sole before the uppers.

My son wears Salomon Quest 4D GTX boots and has had a good run with those, but they don’t last as long as the Crispis have. He is a lot harder on footwear than I am though.

I am not familiar with the Valdres boots, but can’t imagine the quality will be any less than the Summits.

I’m not too sure what to think about Dwight’s though. I wonder where they are getting their boots from that they can sell a pair of boots $150 cheaper than elsewhere. I spend a bit of time in Wellington for work and have dropped in there a few times to look at items that are on their website - but they don’t have them there, so just because they show them on their website as you have linked doesn’t mean they actually have them in the shop. Having said that, I have seen some Crispi boots in their shop window as I’ve walked past, just not sure which models as I haven’t been there recently.

Hanwag, Lowa, and Meindl - the three Wagner brothers who are all boot makers. Hard to imagine the boots are very different in their construction, just in appearance.

    Hanwag boots - Suspiciously cheap...
@Gkp - what is the issue with your Meindl - I was thinking of outlaying the GDP of a small African nation to get a pair as I'm also in the market for new boots.

I have had a pair of Zamberlan the last few years that have proven to be a good boot. I will not be expecting 5 years out of them (I was, originally) but I will get close to 3 - 4 I would say. No break in, fit my foot and off to the races from day one. My experience of them is a very good one.

Gibo I think it very ageist that you don’t want any oldies chiming in. You just missed out on an incredible decades old, secondhand pair of gumboots that I would have let go at a couple of hundy for you.
