    New Twinneedle pack

I have a Kifaru Shape charge as my main edc and day hunt bag. It is an excellent pack, very comfortable. I’m my humble opinion nearly the perfect day pack. It has a couple of small flaws though in that it has no decent carry handle, and no hydro port. About 6 months ago I stopped by Twineedle and got them to install both a hydro port and carry handle, making this pack pretty much perfect. I see on the warfighter fb page they are running a giveaway with a yet unreleased pack by Twinneedle, the Tackea.

I’m not saying they copied my shapecharge, but I couldn’t help but notice a few similarities hahaha

It's a well known tactic in the outdoor gear industry.

Back in the day I lived in Brisbane, and Mountain Designs had their factory there. There was a small factory outlet shop, and they often sold the products from other manufacturers (often from the US) that they had bought to copy/reverse engineer!

I doubt it. The design cues are pretty universal amongst the "tactical" style "assault packs". Clamshell, molle (laser cut), velcro for patches, camo, compression straps

    etc

Going by pics on website it looks like the twinneedle one has no waste belt…which seems a tad silly, as it would be a great day pack for hunting but bugger carrying out a decent load of meat with no hip belt. Otherwise i would have grabbed one, be a bloody good robust pack.

100% agree, plus the bag needs to be long enough for a hip belt to be of any value.

I realise everything has likely changed in the last 30 years (gulp- that long!) but when I was in the Territorials we had our webbing set up so that the pack sat on top of our rear pouches, effectively acting like a hip belt. Then again, alot of us made our own kit as the issues stuff was still vietnam war era... but maybe that's why its a shorter pack with no belt? I'm sure there are some here with current experience in that respect?

Yeah for sure it may not be long enough, i use to have there molly me and the hip belt was high around my guts, just couldn't get in comfy enough under load. Very good gear just some tiny tweaks in the design process and they would be perfect. The big molly looks good, if i didn't already have a big pack, i would give that a go.

It's the same with alpine climbing packs. The climbing harness is where the pack straps would normally sit, so they have to be higher. It takes some getting used to, but it works.
