Ponchos
Thinking about a poncho for north island bush hunts. More for sitting out a shower than actively hunting when it's pissing it down. Wind not really an issue as in dense bush. Not looking to spend more than $100 and doesn't have to be a tactical special forces version 😀
Any recommendations or comments abut ponchos general?

A parka is better in wet bush. Poncho is good when carrying a bloody carcass but yr back will sweat. A good compromise are the oilskin half sleeved jackets with a small shoulder cape attachable detatchable with domes. They're often used by loggers/ bushmen; incl yrs truly. The good ones have a longish tail to keep backside dry especially when yr bending over felling etc.

What about one of the Mil Surp poncho's already domed for use as a fly. I like the fact that they roll up to bugger all. You can stand in the pissing rain with your rifle tucked up under it and easily get it out . I gave mine an extra spray with silicone spray to water proof it and did the seams with RTV mixed in white spirits.
Mines just plain green, nothing fancy.
If you have a big head they are hard to put on:thumbsup::oh noes:
