    Re-Waterproofing Jacket

G'day, I have a Ridgeline jacket that's lost its waterproofing. Has anyone tried/succeeded with restoring waterproof properties with the likes of Nikwax, etc?

I have a Ridgeline jacket that's a few years old and doesn't repel water like it used to as well. A mate recetly used this to good effect on his Macpac jacket. The water just beaded off instead of soaking into the material.

It had me sold. I will buy some later in the week I think.

I wash my waterproof stuff coldwash without detergent.......if its GoreTex fabric I spin dry it on low heat to reactivate the proofing qualities and spray it with Grangers XT Proofer, available from the likes of Bivouac.

Morning guys - something I wrote up about it recently.

    Re-Waterproofing your gear

I have the wash in version to try out shortly as well.

Good heads up on the Selleys product.

My brother in Law also swears by Sno Seal on his motorcycle leathers as a water proofing agent.

I should have also explained that my motorcycle gear is mostly Goretex.

I respray it before winter every year with Selleys and have not been wet yet.

Selleys is also recommended for waterproofing tents as well.

Other products you can try are Nixwax and Grangers.

    Cheers

@P38 - thanks for the info on the Selleys gear.
Had my Pommy m/cycle jacket for 10 years, but hasn't leaked yet.
